DMK Decides Not to be in Govt for Now

With DMK adamant on its stand of providing outside support to UPA, Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Friday held fresh discussions with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over the issue of portfolio allocation.

According to reports, Gandhi drove down to Singh’s official Racecourse Road residence along with her political secretary Ahmed Patel.

In may be mentioned that the meeting took place following key UPA ally DMK, with 18 MPs, decided to extend outside support to the government for the Congress could not strike a formula with it on ministerial berths.

After the failure of discussion, DMK supremo and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and his son and MP from Madurai, M Azhagiri, left for Chennai on Friday morning.

However, DMK MPs will attend swearing in of Manmohan Singh, said DMK  Parliamentary Party leader T R Baalu.
