Cong MP Baij raises issue of kerosene quota in LS

Newly elected Congress Member of Parliament from Bastar, Deepak Baij on Tuesday raised in Lok Sabha the issue of curtailment of state’s kerosene quota by the Centre.

Raising the matter during the zero hour, he strongly opposed the slashing of 38% quota. “The chief minister of the state demanded to increase the quota but astonishingly the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) curtailed it by 38%”, Baij said in the Lower House.

He alleged that the Centre was adopting a dual policy. On one hand it accepts in the House that there were 40,000 houses in the state which were yet to be electrified while on the other they are curtailing the much-needed kerosene quota, he said adding the fuel was needed by those villagers for lighting the lamps at night.

According to official sources in the Congress, the Lok Sabha speaker too took cognizance of the matter and had instructed for necessary action.
