Delhi Police constable arrest of raping widow

New Delhi: A 28-year-old Delhi Police constable has been arrested for allegedly raping a widow here, police said.

According to senior police officials, the woman was staying at the house of Mithun’s brother for the past few months and Mithun allegedly developed a physical relationship with her, after promising to marry her. But when he refused to marry her, the woman approached police and filed a complaint against him.

On Wednesday, the constable went to the woman’s house and allegedly molested her, and when she resisted, he threatened and raped her. A medical examination at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital confirmed rape.

A case has been registered against the constable. He was presented before a court, which sent him to 14 days’ judicial custody, the officer added.
