Baghel meets teenager suffering Progeria disease

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday met a tribal teenager, Shailendra, from Gariaband who suffers from the incurable Progeria disease.

Baghel invited the teenager and his father to have a meal with him. He gave him many chocolates and fed him sweets with his own hands.

This happened when the Chief Minister was holding a meeting with the Superintendents of Police and Inspector Generals of Police here.

Progeria is an extremely rare, progressive genetic disorder that causes children to age rapidly, starting in their first two years of life. Children with progeria generally appear normal at birth.

On being asked by Baghel, Shailendra said he was a student of Class 11 at the Higher Secondary School at Rasela. He said he wished to become a Collector and serve the country.

The Chief Minister then told the audience to applaud him. Shailendra told Baghel that his father Banshilal Dhruv and mother Ramkali Dhruv are farmers.
