Dalai Lama Offers Prayers at Tawang Monastery
On the last day of his four-day visit, Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama on Thursday offered prayers at the 500-year-old Tawang monastery.
He offered prayers at ‘Duthang’, the main prayer hall, at the monastery.
Besides, the Dalai Lama planter a sapling in Tawang House later, the bungalow of the District Deputy Commissioner, where he had taken rest in 1959 when he fled from Tibet.
The spiritual leader laid the foundation of a hostel building at the ‘Manjushree Vidyapeeth’, a home for destitute children.
He then left for Dirang where he will attend a prayer meeting before leaving for Bomdila from where he flies back to Itanagar tomorrow.
