Curfew Imposed in Baramullah Following Youth’s Killing
Curfew has been imposed in Baramullah town of Jammu and Kashmir following killing of a youth occurred when security personnel opened fire at a mob which was protesting against alleged police harassment of a woman. In the firing, at least four people were severely injured.
According to reports, police initially made attempts to dispel the crowd by baton-charging them and lobbing tear gas. Nevertheless, mob swelled later and pelted stones at the police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers, said police.
Police said that after situation worsened in the town, located on the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road, security forces resorted to firing, killing Rashid Wani on the spot.
