Rajdhani Express Derails in Bihar, Driver Averts Major Mishap

The New Delhi-Guwahati Rajdhani Express derailed in Bihar today but no body was injured as train driver pulled the emergency brake averting a major mishap, said media reports.

According to reports, as many as 14 wagons of the train derailed between Nawgachia and Kharik railway station under Katihar-Barauni rail section in Bhagalpur district.

“The driver of the train used the emergency brake after he heard the sound of a blast,” Divisional Railway Manager RK Agrawal was quoted as saying.

“Railway officials are investigating the cause of the derailment,” he was quoted as saying.

Due to derailment, traffic was disrupted on the main rail track between Delhi-Guwahati, reports said.

Agrawal said that it would restart soon and passengers would be taken to their destination by a special train, said reports.
