Court Issues Non-bailable Warrant against 22 Pakistanis in 26/11

In connection with last year’s Mumbai terror attack case, a special court has issued non-bailable warrants against 22 Pakistanis wanted in the case.

Special Judge M L Tahilyani passed the order after accepting a plea filed by Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam.

It may be mentioned that the only Pakistani currently in custody and undergoing trial in for the role in attack is Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab. His nine accomplices were gunned down by combine security forces during the 60-hour operations.

Kasab’s confession, intelligence inputs and investigations by various Indian agencies into the attack have hinted at the involvement of the Pakistan-based Laskkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in the assault in which more than 170 people were killed.

In the 11,500-plus-page charge sheet filed by Mumbai Police in case, as many as 35 persons were accused, including LeT commanders Zarar Shah, Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi among others.

Nikam had on Monday urged that the court should issue NBWs since the addresses of 27 of the 35 wanted accused were available with the Indian government.
