Corruption Cancerous for State, Nitish

Lauding Chief Justice of India KG Balakrishnan for his stand on the matter, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday came out in strong support for the move enabling the confiscation of disproportionate assets belonging to ‘corrupt’ officials.

Drawing parallels between corruption and cancer Nitish said: “While cancer kills a man, corruption ruins the state’s future.”

“I hold the view that apart from registration of DA cases, the assets disproportionate to the income of corrupt officials be confiscated,” said Nitish, he was speaking to reporters before leaving for a campaign tour.

Recounting his government’s sustained anti-corruption initiative, Nitish called for an immediate central assent to the new legislation passed by the state legislature to deal with the corruption cases effectively and underlined the need for a stricter legal framework to deal with the ill.
