Congress Sweeps Rajasthan Civic Polls
Continuing its winning canter in the desert state, the ruling Congress in Rajasthan has bagged the mayoral chair in all the four municipal corporations of Jodhpur, Jaipur, Kota and Bikaner, an election official said.
Adding to the jubilant mood, party candidates won 25 of the 42 elections for the post chairmen in civic bodies.
The opposition BJP won chairmen in three Municipal Councils and in seven Municipal Boards. Independents were declared victorious in six civic bodies, while BSP in one municipal board.
Elections for 46 civic bodies were held on November 23, the poll battle included four municipal corporation mayors, chairmen in 11 municipal councils and 31 municipal boards.
