Cong, Trinamool Fail to Reach Seat Sharing Arrangement for KMC Polls

The talks between the Congress and the Trinamool Congress on seat sharing for the forthcoming Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) elections have failed, said media reports.

Congress and Trinamool will now be fighting each other in addition to the CPM in the elections scheduled for May 30.

Congress today released a list of 88 candidates for KMC elections after Trinamool turned down its demand for 51 seats, reports said.

Trinamool, an ally of UPA at the Centre, was willing to concede merely 25 seats to the Congress.

“We tried our best to keep the alliance but the TMC kept delayiing so we came out with our own list,” Congress leader Pradeep Bhattacharya was quoted as saying.

The Trinamool Congress will be contesting in 115 seats.
