In a bid to put to a standstill all speculation about DMK’s s being in a temper with the Congress, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said that the Congress alliance with DMK has stood the test of time and would continue.
“I can say as of now we are fighting this election in the company of DMK. This alliance has stood the test of time for the last five years,” he said at a press conference.
He was replying to a question whether Congress would have nothing to do with AIADMK in the post-poll scenario.
The Prime Minister, in his answer, added that the Congress would maintain this alliance and form the government.
Singh’s statement bears importance in the light of reports that DMK was sulking after Rahul Gandhi’s description of AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa as a likeminded leader.
