Cong Confident of Winning Mayor Seat in BMC Elections
Congress sounds confident of winning the Mayor elections in Mumbai which are scheduled to be held tomorrow and of breaking the Shiv Sena-BJP rule in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
“We are very much sure of winning the seat of Mayor. The mayor will be from the Congress while deputy mayor will be from the NCP,” leader of opposition in the House, Rajhans Singh was quoted as saying by PTI.
In the BMC, the Congress and other opposition parties have a total of 109 seats, of which congress has 76, NCP 14, SP 7, MNS 6, Republican Party of India (RPI) 3, BSP 1 and Independent 2.
While ruling Sena-BJP combine has strength of 115 members. Of this, Shiv Sena has 81, BJP 29, Akhil Bhartiya Sena 2, and Independent 3.
It should be noted that a candidate needs 113 votes to win the mayoral election.
