Chidambaram Raps Maoist Sympathisers

A day after killing of 4 CISF jawans by Maoists in Chhattisgarh, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram has rapped those backing the Maoists.

A note released by the ministry condemned the attack on a Public Sector Unit (PSU) in Chhattisgarh and questioned the motive leading the violence. The ministry also points out that pro-Maoist sympathizers must think over the violence by the Maoists.

In a statement, Home Ministry condemns the attack saying, “The Government of India strongly condemns this unprovoked and heinous attack by the CPI (Maoist) on a public sector security force that was on a routine patrol in an area falling under the jurisdiction of a public sector corporation. What is the motive behind the attack on a police force that provides security to NMDC? What is the message that the CPI (Maoist) intends to convey? These are questions that we would like to put not only to the CPI (Maoist) but also to those who speak on their behalf and chastise the government.”

The statement added further, “We think that it is time for all right-thinking citizens who believe in democracy and development to condemn the acts of violence perpetrated by the CPI (Maoist).”

It may be mentioned that in a planned landmine blast in the mines, four CISF personnel were killed and two others critically injured in Chhattisgarh. The took place in area of National Minerals Development Corporation (NMDC) in Bacheli.
