Chennai Police Files Chargesheet against Heum for Digital Child Pornography

A chargesheet has finally be filed against Willian Heum for digital child pornography by the Chennai police, reported NDTV.

It may be mentioned that Heum was taken into custody last year under India’s new IT Act.

However, he was granted bail as the police failed to file chargesheet against him within 90 days of his arrest, said report, adding that the only reason he is still in prison is that the didn’t provide the money required for his bail.

Police is expected to now challenge the bail granted to Heum, said report.

Heum, a Dutch national who has lived in India for 30 years and is accused of uploading images of child pornography on the Internet, faces upto seven years in prison and fine of Rs 10 lakh if found guilty.

Also, he is on bail in another case where he has been accused of sexually abusing children at an orphanage run by him in Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu. He was arrested in 2002 for allegedly having sex with minors.
