CBI Submits Report on Missing Ayodhya Files

The CBI has submitted its interim report on the 23 missing files pertaining to the Ayodhya title suits to Allahabad High Court.

In compliance with an earlier court order of July 15 last, the interim report was filed by Additional solicitor general Ashok Nigam in a sealed cover before a special full bench comprising justices S R Alam, Sudhir Agarwal and Justice D V Sharma.

Responding to a query of the Lucknow bench of the high court if the state government was cooperating with the investigations, Nigam said that it was fully cooperating and assured that the investigations would be completed within September 21 time frame set by the court.

Besides, Nigam requested the court to keep the report in a sealed cover.

It may be mentioned that in its earlier order, the court while directing the CBI to take over investigations of the missing files related to the Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri mosque land dispute and completing it in two months time had also directed the CBI to submit an interim report on August 24.
