CBI Arrests CLB Member on Bribery Charge
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a member of Company Law Board (CLB) R Vasudevan and a company secretary Manoj Banthia for allegedly asking for bribe worth Rs 7 lakh to give a favourable ruling in a case.
“Rs 55 lakh including seven lakh bribe amount from the residence of accused member of Company Law Board and cash Rs 3 lakh from the possession of the company secretary at Delhi have been recovered,” a CBI spokesperson said.
The official said that the company secretary was also caught while delivering illegal gratification and that the accused demanded illegal gratification to give favourable orders in a case being presided over by him.
A case was registered against the accused under different sections of IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act and CBI carried out searches at seven locations in Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai.
“Incriminating documents recovered during searches from the premises of accused persons are being scrutinised,” the official said.
