MSP, Mandi System will continue: Raman Singh

The ‘One Nation-One Market’ system will not do away with the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and the Mandi System as the Congress claims, former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and BJP leader Raman Singh said on Tuesday.

Defending the bills which have led the opposition to gang up against the Modi government, he said they marked radical changes in the agriculture sector in the country, giving farmers the power to take decisions based on their choice.

It will open new avenues for them, Raman Singh said, adding the bills do not tamper with MSP regime and the Mandi System.

Under the ‘One Nation-One Market’ system, the farmers can sell their produce anywhere in the country, the BJP leader added.

He said the Congress had given the same assurance to farmers in 2013 and 2019 but was now opposing it.

He was reacting to the proposed agitations to be organized by the Congress against the two bills related to farmers.
