Budget 2012

NEW DELHI: Budget for the financial year 2012-2013 has been presented on Friday by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee in Lok Sabha. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh praised the budget.

He said that budget will bring the rise in economy.

Mukherjee said, “Though we have been able to limit the adverse impact of the slowdown in our economy, this year’s performance has been disappointing”.

He added that “there are signs of recovery in the coal, fertiliser, cement and electricity sectors”.

NS Venkatesh of IDBI Bank in Mumbai said,” It is clear the government is trying to come back to path of fiscal consolidation. And once inflation eases, it will provide RBI with space for acting on interest rates”.

Opposition slams the budget and said that it will bring further inflation to the country and increase difficulties for the common people.

“It is heartening to see that the government has recognised the importance of infrastructure for future growth” said Sunil Duggal CEO, Dabur India.
