BSP Madhya Pradesh Chief Defects to BJP

As first reported by this website, several top functionaries of the Madhya Pradesh unit of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) defected to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday, those making the move include BSP state unit chief Bhujbal Singh Ahirwar.

The BSP leaders joined the BJP at a colorful function held at the Ravindra Bhawan in Bhopal, key BJP leaders from the state, including chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, were present on the occasion.

Coming ahead of Lok Sabha elections and at a time when the BSP is attempting to shed its regional tag and prove its electoral teeth beyond Uttar Pradesh the defections are sure to come as a rude shock to the Mayawati campaign.

Several Gondwana Gantantra Party (GGP) leaders also joined the BJP on the occasion.
