BSP Holds Key to Power: Mayawati

Speaking out on the post-poll scenario for the first time, Bahujan Samaj Party supremo and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati on Monday said that even if her party failed to capture power on her own, it would play a key role in the formation of next government at the Centre.

“No party can form government without the BSP,” said the firebrand leader, while addressing voters in Dadri, Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad.

Claiming that Delhi is not far for her, she contended that even if her party fails to bag sufficient number of seats, it will play a crucial role in the formation of next government.

Slamming the BJP and Congress, she alleged that both the parties were exploiting dalits for their own interests and did nothing to improve their lot.

Continuing with her tirade, Mayawati slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi saying merely eating and sleeping in dalit homes could not sensitize one to their pain and suffering.

She contended that voters were not “fools” and could easily differentiate between “reality and drama”.

In an ostensible attempt to scrape off the casteist tag, she said that she did not believe in “caste politics”, but wanted to bridge the gap between upper and lower castes.

Striking an emotional chord she claimed that BSP was the only party working for the welfare of Muslims.
