Bihar JD(U) MLA Kills Wife, Daughter, then Commits Suicide

Legislature of ruling JD (U) Abhy Singh has allegedly committed suicide after shooting his wife and six-month-old daughter dead at his father and Bihar minister Narendra Singh’s official residence in Patna, reported PTI.

According to report, shortly after the incidence, food and supplies minister Narendra Singh fell unconscious and was admitted to the ICCU of Patna Medical College and Hospital with cardiac complications, said report citing sources.

Police said that Abhay, an MLA from Jamui, first shot his daughter and wife dead with a gun before killing himself in the wake of a quarrel at about 0200 hrs IST.

Report said that Singh’s three-year-old daughter was with her grandmother in another room when incident took place.

Also, Narendra Singh was asleep in another room at the time, said report.

Soon after the news, chief minister Nitish Kumar and Leader of Opposition Rabri Devi rushed to Singh’s house, report said.

Kumar described the incident as very sad and said, “We are all with the family members of Narendra Singh.”

Police said that the bodies have been sent to hospital for post-mortem, report said.
