Bachchan Row: Maha Cong Leaders Demand Chavan’s Removal
A section of Maharashtra Congress is demanding removal of chief minister Ashok Chavan for the presence of Amitabh Bachchan at the inauguration of second carriageway of Bandra-Worli sea-link on Wednesday, said media reports.
According to reports, a section of congress leaders decided to write a letter of protest to party president Sonia Gandhi, asking her to remove Chavan as he shared dais with Bachchan, who is the brand ambassador of BJP-ruled Gujarat and is considered close to SP.
Despite clarification by Chavan on Thursday that he didn’t know of Big B’s presence at the function, state Congress leaders alleged that Chavan was being naïve as actor’s name appeared in all invitation and hoardings put up in the city, reports said.
State Congress president Kripa Shankar Singh said that Bachchan’s presence in the function was improper, however, he declined to comment on Chavan, said reports.
