Anti-Maoist Encounter in Jharkhand

A fierce encounter took place on Sunday night between security forces and Maoists in the forests bordering Khunti district of Jharkhand, said reports citing the police in Ranchi.

Though, officials confirmed the encounter, they added that details were yet to reach the State capital.

The forces from the State police, CRPF and the anti-Naxal Jaguar Force have been in action against the Maoists in the forests near Bundu, some 40 km from Ranchi.

Kundan Pahan, accused of masterminding the beheading of Special Branch officer Francis Induwar in October last year, leads the proscribed CPI (Maoist) in Khunti.

Meanwhile, DGP control room ASI, RC Ram said the control room had no information that the security forces busted a Naxal camp during the encounter.
