Amitabh Cannot Be Blacklisted from Programmes for Gandhis: Gadkari

BJP chief Nitin Gadkari has said that Hindi film actor Amitabh Bachchan cannot be blacklisted from programmes only because Sonia or Rahul Gandhi doesn’t like him, said media reports.

“He (Amitabh) is a great actor…. just because Madam doesn’t like him, how can he be blacklisted from programmes? Just because the Prince doesn’t like him,” Gadkari was quoted as saying.

Addressing his first rally on Wednesday in West Bengal since taking over the reins of the party, Gadkari said: “Amitabh Bachchan is not Dawood Ibrahim. Why do you treat him like a villain?”

Reports said that Congress has taken a decision that it will not comment in public on its discontentment with Bachchan, particularly if the BJP can help it.

In the rally, Gadkari said that the Congress, in the name of practising secularism, is in fact appeasing terrorism, reports said.

“The BJP is not against Muslims. In fact, we are not against any religion. It was the government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee which made A P J Abdul Kalam the President. But we are against terrorist organisations like Al-qaeda and the LeT. We are against apeasing terrorists, which Congress does. And this party which appeases Pakistan cannot protect the country,” he was quoted as saying.
