Air India Hostess Komal Was Not Sexually Assaulted: NCW

In connection with molestation of Air India hostess Komal Singh, National Commission for Women (NCW) has said that she was not sexually assaulted.

Following the hostess labeled charges, the NCW had formed a five-member committee led by member Wansuk Syiem to look into the matter. The committee submitted a final enquiry report to the ministry of women and child development today.

A couple of days ago, Girija Vyas, chairperson of NCW, had said: “The committee has asked for more time and some more evidence before it can submit the final report to the ministry of women and child development. The committee had also asked for a full internal inquiry report from Air India but only received a preliminary report, which is not sufficient. We are now waiting for a full report. The commission will try to get Komal justice. We are also preparing guidelines for the safety, security and dignity of air hostesses and will be submitting it to all airlines.”

It may be mentioned that Komal Singh complained to NCW first through an email on October 5 and then went to the commission to file a written complaint.

In her complaint, Komal had alleged that she was molested by the captains of Flight IC 884 on a Sharjah-New Delhi flight on October 3. There was a scuffle involving Komal, her friend and the pilots, which raised concerns over the conduct of the crew and flight safety. There were 106 persons on board on that flight.
