3 H1N1 Suspects Quarantined in Delhi’s RML

Three NRIs, two coming from Chicago and one from London, have been put under quarantine at Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) hospital for presenting suspected symptoms of H1N1 influenza. They had cough, cold, fever and upper respiratory infection.

Paramjit Kaur and Jagjivaan Singh, landing in Delhi from Chicago by the American airlines flight, were sent to RML late on Friday night, both originally hail from Fatehabad Sahib in Punjab. While, Ashwini was sent to RML’s quarantine facility on Saturday morning after he arrived in Delhi by the British airways from London.

According to reports, Paramjit has had fever for the past 5 days while Jagjivaan has had fever, sore throat and upper respiratory diseases for past 12 days. The two had also visited affected American states of Texas and Chicago, and themselves turned up in the hospital for medical examination following extensive media coverage of swine flu.
 
However, Ashwini from London did not report visit to affected states but was found to have symptoms.

Union health ministry sources said that since Friday afternoon, five people have been sent to RML for final screening on whether suspected passengers fit WHO’s definition of a suspect case.
