12 Killed, 13 Injured in Mumbai Landslides

At least 12 people, three of them children, were killed and 13 others injured when landslides occurred due to heavy rains in suburban Andheri, said police.

Amitabh Gupta, Additional Commissioner of Police, said that LBS Nagar at Sakinaka was hit by the landslides on Thursday night in which almost 15-20 houses were damanged.

According to reports, ten fire engines have been deployed for removing the rubble from the spot.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has announced compensation of Rs one lakh to family members of each of those killed in the landslides.

Families of each of those injured will get between Rs 25,000 and Rs 50,000.
