Two Militants Killed as Another Gunbattle Occurs in J&K

A day after Srinagar gunbattle, two militants have been killed in an encounter with security forces in Pampore in Jammu and Kashmir.

The two, who had taken a shelter inside a house and opened fire at security forces, were identified as Altaf and Javed, both Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operatives.

Altaf was involved in a car blast near the Central Jail and in the killing of a policeman in Pampore.

After getting a tip-off that two militants were hiding in a house, security forces laid siege and an encounter followed.

This is the second encounter in the state in the last 48 hours.

On Thursday, two terrorists, allegedly also from the LeT were killed by security forces in Hotel Panjab in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk.  This was Srinagar’s worst terror attack since 2006. Nine people were injured in that encounter; two were killed in addition to the militants.
