World Cup 2011: Zimbabwe will meet Champions today

At the Sardar Patel Stadium in Amedabad, in today’s only match of the World Cup Cricket, defending champions Australia meet Zimbabwe.

Yesterday at Hambantota in Sri Lanka, co-hosts Sri Lanka beat Canada by 210 runs in their opening match of Group A in the ICC Cricket World Cup.

Winning the toss, Sri Lanka chose to bat and amassed a huge 332 for seven. Chasing the winning target of 333, minnows Canada were all out for just 122 runs, with 13.1 overs to spare.

For Sri Lankan, Man of the Match Mahela Jayawardene plundered 100 runs. It was also the fastest century by a Sri Lankan in World Cup.
Skipper Kumar Sangakkara struck 92 after Tillakaratne Dilshan kick-started his team’s campaign with a solid half-century. After bowling out Kenya for 69 runs, the Kiwis took just 49 balls to overhaul the target.

New Zealand crushed Kenya by 10 wickets in Group A fixture in Chennai yesterday. It was the second fastest win in the history of the cricket matches.
