Swat Bombing Triggers Fresh Battles, 30 Militants Killed
30 Taliban militants have been killed in gun battles across Pakistan’s northwestern Swat Valley, a day after a suicide bomber detonated himself near a police station in the area, killing 17 cadets.
Forces combing the area after the bombing met with resistance from several areas and battles raged till early morning Monday, said an army spokesman.
He confirmed that 30 militants were killed in the battles.
Separately, a soldier was also reported killed in the fighting.
