Suicide Bomb Blast at NATO Base in Kabul, 6 Injured

At one of the main bases of NATO, a suicide bomb explosion took place on Friday, injuring at least six people near Camp Phoenix, a logistics support base for US forces just outside Kabul.

NATO said that suicide bombing took place at 8 am on Friday. Taliban are claiming responsibility

According to Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid, the attack was executed by a car suicide bomber and targeted an international military convoy.

Abdul Ghafar Sayed Zada, chief of criminal investigation for Kabul police, said that three civilians and three foreigners were injured.

Initial Reports also suggest that the blast was followed by small arms fire. The area was sealed off by Western and Afghan forces.

The attack comes amid intense debate over US strategy in Afghanistan, with President Barack Obama yet to make a decision on troop numbers.
