Chiranjeevi to Meet Sonia

Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) chief Chiranjeevi on Saturday morning arrived in New Delhi on a visit being seen as a mission to explore a future truck with the Congress, said media reports.

He is scheduled to meeting Congress president Sonia Gandhi later in the day, reports said.

The visit is primarily because Congress is seeking the support of 16 PRP legislators for its Rajya Sabha candidates and so the meeting between Gandhi and Chiranjeevi could set a tone for an alliance at a later date, said reports.

Reports suggest that as Jagan has defied party high command on his trip to Warangal, Chiranjeevi is part of the Congress party’s plan B in the event Jagan splits the party in the state, reports said.

Jagan was taken into preventive custody on Friday after clashes between those for and against his proposed yatra in Warangal.

He was later released on personal bond, but angry supporters had already set two coaches of the Padmavati Express on fire at Tirupati station in protest against the arrest.
