3 killed, 8 injured as Hamas terrorists open fire at Jerusalem bus stop

At least three people were killed, and eight others were wounded after two Palestinian attackers opened fire at a bus near the entry point of Jerusalem, Israeli Police said on Thursday. The attackers arrived at the scene in a car in the morning, armed with a rifle and a handgun, and started shooting at civilians. They were subsequently gunned down at the spot.

Security footage shown by Israel’s Channel 12 showed a white car being stopped by off-duty soldiers and another civilian near the checkpoint beside a crowded bus stop. The men step out of their vehicle, draw their guns and run at the crowd as people frantically scatter for their lives. Shortly after the attackers are gunned down.

The incident happened soon after Israel and Hamas agreed to further extend the Gaza truce to allow the release of more hostages and passage of humanitarian aid to the besieged enclave. The announcement was made on X by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) minutes before the truce was supposed to end.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said that Hamas gave them a list that adheres to the truce rules.

Israel’s statement came shortly after Hamas said that Israel rejected the group’s latest hostage offer.

The four-day truce that started on November 24, was extended by two days till Wednesday. On the sixth and last day of the truce, as many as 16 hostages, including 10 Israelis, were released. Meanwhile, 30 Palestinians – 16 minors and 14 women – were freed by Israel, Qatar’s Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson, Majed Al-Ansari, said in a statement.

Furthermore, two Russian citizens and four Thai nationals were released outside the framework of the truce agreement.
