Pakistan criticized US decision

ISLAMABAD: The US decision to place a $10 million bounty on Hafiz Saeed is criticized by Pakistan.

It was alleged that Hafiz Mohammad Saeed was the mastermind of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, which allegedly plotted the 2008 terrorist attack in India’s financial hub, Mumbai that killed 166 people – including six Americans.

“The United States should have informed Pakistan before taking such a move because there is no solid evidence against Saeed,” said Pakistan Prime Minister. He invited US to share any solid evidence if it is theirs.

The US bounty on Saeed is considered as interference in Pakistan’s internal affairs. While Saeed mocked US for placing a bounty on someone whose whereabouts are already known.

Prime Minister Gilani told parliament on Thursday “and told him that parliament is discussing new rules of engagement with the U.S. and at this stage, positive messages should be emanating from U.S. and not negative, because it will widen the trust deficit.”
