Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Asif released from Jail

LONDON: Mohammad Asif, the fast bowler from Pakistan who was alleged in spot fixing scandal released from British jail after completing half of his one-year sentence.

He was released from the Canterbury Prison in Southeast England on Thursday morning. He was jailed in November after Southwark Crown Court in London.

He was found guilty of conspiring to cheat and accept corrupt payments over deliberate no-balls bowled during the Lord’s Test against England in August 2010.

He was facing a seven year ban by ICC from cricket due to this.

He will try to clear his name said his lawyer. His lawyer said, “I look forward to meeting him and helping him in his legal fight to restore the reputation he once had”.
