Taliban Militants Irked, Pledge to Kill Zardari, Gilani

In the wake of Pakistan government’s decision to start a comprehensive military offensive to curb Taliban, the defiant and angered militants have sworn to “eliminate country’s top leadership including President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, together with their close family members

An unnamed Taliban commander was quoted as saying by a Pakistani daily that they thought that being a member of a religious family, Gilani would support their demand of implementing Sharia in the Malakand division but instead he had announced an all-out war against them, which has angered their commanders as well as fighters.

The militant commander said that they had begun chalking a plan to “eliminate the top leaders of the ruling alliance, including President, Prime Minister and their close family members and aides after Gilani, during an address to the nation on Thursday, announced that the Taliban would be wiped out from the Swat Valley and adjoining areas.

According to the commander, Gilani’s hometown of Multan and tomb of former premier Benazir Bhutto might also be targeted by the militants.

He claimed that besides the personnel and installations of security forces, they have now also included civilian rulers in their hit list. He said that they definitely need some time to plan their actions but it is not impossible for them and we have all the means to implement our plan of attack anywhere in Pakistan.
