Bhargav Seeks Clearance of Road Proposals

Madhya Pradesh Panchayat and Rural Development Minister, Gopal Bhargav met the Union Rural Development Minister, CP Joshi on Thursday and sought the early sanction of the Rs. 791 crore proposals pending for nine districts under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

Bhargav urged Joshi for further funds to provide employment to the villagers and give early sanction for construction of 138 roads in the Naxal infested Balaghat district. The construction of these roads amounting to Rs. 124.16 crore, he said, would help tackle the Maoist menace in these areas.

He informed the Union Minister that the proposals of 404 roads measuring 1884 kilometers under ADB Batch-5 of Madhya Pradesh are pending with the Government of India, the estimated cost of these roads is Rs.556.69 crore.

The above-mentioned proposals, said Bhargav, have already been approved by the high power committee of the Government of India.

He also sought more central funds for employment-oriented works and women self help groups in the districts of drought-hit Bundelkhand region.
