Mahesh Bhatt reveals how Sushmita Sen and Vikram Bhatt fell in love: ‘It started in Seychelles…’

Days after Bollywood filmmaker Vikram Bhatt came out in support of his ex-girlfriend Sushmita Sen and her relationship with Lalit Modi, now Mahesh Bhatt too has lauded the actress for living on her own terms.

During an interaction with Times of India, Mahesh stated that Sushmita has always been an “unusual girl” and that he salutes her for living her life as she wants to. “She has the guts to live on her own dictates. My personal belief is that we must in the second decade of the 21st century give human beings the right to live life on their own terms. And also if you don’t want somebody else to impose his or her own views and beliefs on you and let you live your life then you must also not do the same to somebody else,” he averred.

Not just that, but he also recalled the time he signed Sushmita for ‘Dastak’ and love blossomed between her and Vikram Bhatt.

“I gave her an idea of ‘Dastak’ and she instantly said yes. And the rest was history. But during the making of ‘Dastak’, Vikram’s romance with Sushmita started in Seychelles. Vikram was my right hand and used to be at the forefront, doing most of my work. So, he used to interact with her more vigorously. That’s how the romance began,” he revealed.

Soon after Lalit Modi announced that he was in a relationship with Sushmita, the actress was trolled and criticised on social media. She then penned a note and slammed all those who labelled her as a ‘gold digger’ and went on to state that she loves diamonds and she buys them on her own.

Sushmita was earlier in a relationship with model Rohman Shawl, whom she met through Instagram in 2018, but broke up with him last year. She is a mother of two adopted daughters Renee and Alisah.

On the other hand, Lalit Modi was previously married to Minal Sagrani, whom he married in October of 1991. They had two children together – son Ruchir and daughter Aliya. Lalit is also a stepfather to Karima Sagrani, from Minal’s first marriage. Minal lost her life to cancer in 2018.
