Headley to Plead Guilty

Pakistani-born American national and Lashkar operative David Coleman Headley, who played a role in Mumbai terror attacks, is going to plead guilty, said media reports.

Headley, who pleaded not guilty in December after being indicted by FBI, is expected to own up his crime at the court hearing in Chicago on Thursday, reports said.

Defence counsel said that a plea agreement was being worked out, he, however, declined to specify charges his client would confess, said reports.

Headley, a former undercover agent for US agencies, has been charged on 12 counts.

He is accused of being a scout for the deadly 2008 Mumbai siege and a plot to kill a Danish cartoonist.

Charges against David Headley include:

a)    Headley is charged with conspiracy involving bombing public places in India
b)    Murdering and maiming persons in India and Denmark
c)    Aiding and abetting the murder of US citizens in India during the 26/11 attacks
d)    Providing material support to foreign terrorist plots
e)    Providing material support to terror group Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT)
f)    The chargesheet mentions Headley attended terrorist training camps in Pakistan
g)    He conducted extensive surveillance of targets in India for more than two years before the 26/11 attack
h)    The chargesheet had details of five trips he made to India between September 2006 and July 2008
i)    He scouted for sites, took photographs for 26/11 and went back to Pakistan to share them with 26/11 handlers
