Government willing to provide all help to Indians wanting to comeback to India from Egypt: S M Krishna

KOCHI: Today External Affairs Minister S M Krishna said, India is “closely” monitoring the situation in Egypt but views developments there as an internal matter of that country.

On Monday he stated in front of reporters, “We are closely monitoring the situation. The view of government of India is that developments in Egypt are an internal matter of that country.”

“We have very cordial relations with the government of Egypt. What is happening there is an internal affair of that country and we do not intend to involve ourselves in the matter of another country,” he added.

Minister said the government was willing to provide all help, including air travel facilities, to Indians wanting to comeback to India from Egypt.

Krishna said he had spoken to the Indian ambassador in Egypt and had been told that two planeloads of women and children have landed at Mumbai and New Delhi.

.”We are in close touch with our embassy,” he assured. “All Indians are safe in Egypt. About 3,200 Indians are in Egypt, of whom about 2,000 are in Cairo,” he said.
