Five-year-old Sahil Saeed Reunited with Father

Five-year-old British boy Sahil Saeed, who was kidnapped in Pakistan, has been reunited with his father at the British High Commission in Islamabad this morning and is likely to fly back home to Manchester today, said media reports.

Raja Saeed Naqqash, 28, who arrived in Islamabad early in the morning, was straight taken to the High Commission to meet his son, said reports.

High Commissioner Adam Thomson was also present during the reunion, reports said.

Sahil was found on Tuesday and he was roaming around, his hair shaved and having one shoe on, in a field which is an hour’s drive from his grandmother’s home in Jhelum, reports said.

However, how he was recovered continues to be a mystery, though three persons have been taken into custody by Spanish police in connection with the kidnapping which took place when the family was holidaying in Punjab on March 14, reports said.

The three persons detained in Constanti, a small town near Tarragona in northeast Spain, include two Pakistani men and a Romanian woman, said reports.

Reports said that trio were said to be part of an international gang which allegedly demanded a ransom of €87,000 (£79,000).

In meanwhile, Pakistan police said that they were drawing near the man they thought pulled the strings in the affair, said reports.

“We have made major progress in the investigation,” he was quoted as saying.

It is yet not known if Pakistani police would quiz Saeed in connection with the probe of his son’s abduction, reports said.

Saeed had left Pakistan without informing police a few days after Sahil was kidnapped at gunpoint by masked men from his grandmother’s home.

Meanwhile, Sahil’s mother, Akila Naqqash, 31, is preparing for the joyful return of the son she thought she would never see again.
