British Court Says Trio “Not Guilty” of Helping London Bombers
A British court on Tuesday acquitted three men facing charges of helping plan the July 7, 2005 London bombings that killed 52 people after four suicide attackers blew themselves up during the morning rush-hour in subway trains and a double-decker bus.
Mohammed Shakil, 32, Sadeer Saleem, 28, and Waheed Ali, 25 denied the prosecution accusations of scouting locations for the attacks faced retrial after a jury last year failed to reach a verdict on the same accusations.
A jury at the Kingston Crown Court found the men ‘not guilty’ of conspiracy to cause explosions. But two of the accused – Ali and Shakil – were convicted on a second charge of conspiring to attend a terrorist training camp in Pakistan.
The jury was not obliged under British law to explain why it rejected the prosecution case.
