19 Killed, 30 Injured as Terrorists Attack Two Mosques in Lahore

As many as 19 people have been killed and 30 others wounded in simultaneous attacks on two mosques by two terrorist groups in Lahore, said media reports quoting eyewitnesses and TV channel reports.

Among dead are three terrorists and injured have been moved to close-by hospitals, reports said.

The exchange of fire between gunmen and police is still on as a large number of worshippers are said to be present inside mosques, said reports.

The attacks were carried out at Garhi Shahu and Model Town Block C areas of Lahore, the capital of Punjab Province, said reports.

Witnesses said that the terrorists, who wore jackets and held hand grenades, stormed into the worship places and held hundreds of worshippers hostages, reports said.

Geo TV channel reported that terrorists threw hand grenades and opened fire on the people inside the mosques, said reports.

Reports said that heavy contingents of police reached the spot and cordoned off the places.

According to ARY news, a previously unknown group identified itself as Al-Qaeda Al- Jihad Punjab Wing has claimed responsibility of the incident.
