150 Killed in Landslides in Rain-Soaked Philippines
At least 150 people have been killed in dozens of landslides in the rain-soaked mountains of the northern Philippines.
According t o Olive Luces, civil defence director for the Cordillera mountain region, four major mudslides struck the region, burying a whole village in La Trinidad town in Benguet province.
In addition, fresh floods hit as many as 30 towns in Pangasinan province, causing residents to flee to rooftops and scramble for safety in the wake of release of excess water from dams due to heavy rains.
Only in the past two weeks, the country was hit by two major storms. Floods and landslides have already left some 300 others dead.
