15 Killed as Three Bombs Rock Shiite Shrine City in Iraq
15 people were killed and over two dozen others were wounded when three bombs rocked the Shiite Muslim shrine city of Najaf on Thursday evening, officials said.
The first explosion, a car bomb, took place in the vicinity of a mosque while the other two bombings were reported from a market in Najaf, home to the mausoleum of Imam Ali, said media reports.
An interior ministry official in Baghdad gave the casualty toll as 15 dead and 25 wounded. However a local government official in Najaf said that three people were killed and 80 injured, 15 of whom were in serious condition – said AFP.
