14 Palestinians Wounded in Israeli Airstrikes in Gaza

Nearly 14 people were injured in two successive airstirkes by Israeli F16 warplanes on the southern Gaza strip on Friday night in reaction to earlier rocket attacks, said media reports quoting witnesses and medics.

According to witnesses, Israeli warplanes struck the non-operational Gaza airport east of the southern Gaza strip town of Rafah and shortly later, targeted two smuggling tunnels under the Gaza Strip-Egypt borders, reports said.

Friday’s airstrikes by Israel followed firing of five rockets by militants at Israel, in one of which a Thai worker was killed near the southern city of Ashkelon.

At least 12 Palestinians were wounded, two of them seriously, in the second strike targeting two tunnels, said reports citing Medics at Abu Yousef al-Najjar Hospital in Rafah town.

Reports said that both Israeli and Hamas officials confirmed the strikes.
