Alia Bhatt slams media reports about pregnancy: ‘I am a woman, not parcel…’

A day after announcing pregnancy, actress Alia Bhatt on Tuesday slammed a media report that claimed her ‘pregnancy was planned in a way that doesn’t affect her work commitments.

Taking to her Instagram story, Alia shared a screenshot of the news report and wrote, “Meanwhile, we still live in some people’s heads. We still live in some patriarchal world…fyi. Nothing has gotten delayed!!! No one needs to PICK anyone up. I am a woman not a parcel!!! I do not need to REST at all but good to know you’ll have a doctors certification as well.”

“This is 2022. Can we pls get out of this archake way of thinking! Now if you would excuse me.. my shot is ready (sic),” she added.

It may be mentioned that the ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ actress thanked everyone for their wishes and penned a heartfelt note for her well-wishers. She also shared an unseen photo from the couple’s pre-wedding ceremony.

“Overwhelmed with all the love! Have tried to read everyone’s messages and good wishes and all I want to say is, it truly feels so special to celebrate such a big moment in our lives with all your love and blessings! Thank you to every single one of you,” she wrote.

She took the nation by storm on Monday after she announced that she is expecting her first child with Ranbir Kapoor.

Ranbir and Alia had fallen in love with each other on the sets of their upcoming film ‘Brahmastra’. The two made their first appearance as a couple at Sonam Kapoor’s wedding reception in 2018.

The couple tied the knot on April 14, 2022, at their Bandra apartment with just family and close friends in attendance.

Ranbir, who will be next seen in ‘Shamshera’, had recently opened up on his future plans with Alia during an event. When a journalist quizzed the actor about how much more work he will do post marriage, he said that he has to make family and do lots of work.

Meanwhile, ‘Brahmastra’ will be the first film in which Ranbir and Alia will be paired opposite each other. The film is set to hit the silver screens on September 9, 2022.
