Muslim Names Being Removed from Electoral Rolls: Aslam

The state Congress Media Committee chairman Aslam Sher Khan has said that names of many Muslims are being removed from electorates’ rolls ahead of the civic body polls in the state.

Also, he asked the BJP government to make sure that the forthcoming civic body elections are held in a free and fair manner.

Aslam, while talking to media persons, said that there were doubts that the BJP could indulge in malpractice to win the polls and asked the ruling party to abstain from them.

He said that names of Muslim voters in many areas are being removed from the voters’ list thinking that they would never vote for the BJP.

Giving an instance, he said that names of as many as 1,260 Muslims had been deleted from the voters’ list from ward number 20 in Bhopal.

He said that similar complaints had also been received from other parts of the state including Indore and Ujjain.

The Congress leader warned the BJP not to do anything that would make Madhya Pradesh go the Gujarat way.
