States 23 railway stations to be of global level

Bhopal : As many as 23 railway stations in the state including Bhopal will be developed on global level. These stations will be restructured by merging nearby railway and other vacant lands.

Stations selected for restructuring in Madhya Pradesh include Bhopal. Jabalpur, Singrauli, Morena-Gwalior, Indore, Nagda, Ratlam, Ujjain, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Betul, Bina, Damoh, Habibganj, Hoshangabad, Itarsi, Katni, Maihar, Pipariya, Rewa, Satna, Sagar and Vidisha. These stations will be placed under ‘A-1’ and ‘A’ categories.

Restructuring of about 400 railway stations in the country has been provisioned in the railway budget this year. Railway stations restructuring project is being minutely monitored by Prime Minister’s Office.

Guidelines have been issued to all concerning zones and standing groups have been formed for immediate clearance through single window. Coordinating Officers appointed by concerning states will help these groups in disposal of mutation of land and other issues with local bodies.

Railway stations will be restructured on the Swiss Challenge System by inviting tenders. Under this, willing institutions will send their designs and suggestions.
